Radon Testing

– Radon is an odorless, radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soil. While this happens just about everywhere and is not harmful out in the open air, it can be dangerous if it seeps into the cracks and holes in the foundation of your home and gets trapped inside. Since you can’t see, smell or taste radon gas, it can build to dangerous levels in your home without you ever noticing.

Why should you test for radon?
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, radon causes approximately 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year in the United States. 1 out of every 15 homes across the U.S. are reported to have elevated levels of radon. With our certified testing protocols, we are able to

  • Detect radon levels escaping into the home with accuracy
  • Use calibrated equipment to conduct 48 hour testing
  • Provide a written report with results

Pest & Termites

Wood destroying insects (WDI) and termites are not only pests but they can also cause major structural damage to a home. It’s often hard for any non-professional to spot the signs, especially if the damage is not visible on the surface of the exposed wood. Our trained inspectors know what to look for and how to detect any current or past activity of termites, carpenter ants, wood boring beetles, and carpenter bees. An interior and exterior inspection of your home is performed to look for signs of an infestation and conditions, paths and sources that could lead to an infestation. This will include a thorough inspection of all exterior walls, eaves of the home, a close examination of the foundation and a review for any structural damage.

Mold & Air Quality

Mold grows especially well in a home where it is warm and damp. It can worsen allergy symptoms or impact people with underlying health conditions. Some of the most common places mold can be found include inside your walls, under your flooring, and in your basement. Mold can also be an indicator of prior flooding issues. Our certified professionals will look for signs of:

  • Moisture intrusion
  • Water damage
  • Musty smells

After taking air and surface samples, we provide lab results for any questionable growth helping to identify any potential health hazards that may exist.

Foundation / Crawl Space

– When it comes to a home’s structural integrity and overall health, the often-overlooked crawl space plays a crucial role. Potential issues that might compromise the condition of a crawlspace or foundation, eventually effect the integrity of the entire property. Petty Pro Inspectors will thoroughly examine:

  • Structural integrity of the Foundation
  • Plumbing and HVAC systems running throughout the foundation
  • Wood Decay or Mold Growth Caused by Humidity
  • Animal Life

Septic Systems

Over time, sludge and scum can build up in the septic tank, reducing its efficiency and eventually causing the system to fail. This can result in sewage backups in the home, foul odors and contaminated groundwater. During a septic inspection, Petty Pro certified inspectors will check various components of the system to assess its overall health. Here are some of the key aspects we evaluate:

  • Septic Tank Integrity
  • Grade of Piping
  • Water Movement Throughout the System
  • Basic Field Condition

Well Inspections

Using a well as your primary source of water comes with many perks. No more water bills. Refreshing, clean and mineral-rich water that tastes great. However, you’ll want to test the well water first to ensure you can safely take advantage of all the benefits it offers. If you’re considering buying a home in a rural area that uses a well as the primary source of water, getting a well inspection is essential. Our well inspection evaluates:

  • Well Components (pump and well head)
  • Electric Wiring
  • Pump
  • Water Testing to ensure water is safe to drink and use (test performed off site)
